> NP> Do you mean D:\ for each drive or \. ? > D:\; C:\; F:\ for every bloody drive! The only root directories I have in the path are c:\ and the %ram% > NP> \. in the path will cover the root directory of the drive you > NP> are operating from. > That's what you said. It's a great idea... no, waita minit! No it's > not. I'll still have to put them in because I put the bat files and > things in various roots. Untidy! Stick'em all in c:\BAT directory or as one comic said "I use C:\BELFRY" > NP> It turns the attributes off. i.e. Removes all RAS & H > NP> attributes on all files in the directory (current or specified) > Jeeze... that's dangerous! I wish you hadn't told me that, now. Using echo Y | del *.* ina BAT is dangerous too. Ya gotta be sure which directory is current at that point in the batch :-) > NP> Just checked and there are 63 files (103k) in the BAT directory > NP> of the RAMdrive. > Aaargh! How can you remember which is which? I can't. They look after themselves. Most of ny BATS know which machine they are on, if the Network is active, which machines are logged to the network and what drive they are acting on. The idea of a BAT file is to remove the need to do repetitive thinking, so i make them as intelligent as I possibly can. > NP> Yell if want a ZIP full of Utilities. (even including peeking > NP> and poking memory) > Now I'm into Pascal, it's just as easy to write a complete EXE, and > call *that* from a simple BAT file. The last job I did was done like that. A BAT file and an EXE that had at least 20 GOTOs' in it :-) It does a validation of all the COM EXE etc files on each HD and screams if one has altered internally. --- FMail/386 0.98* Origin: Pointing South * Tasmania * Australia * (3:711/934.22) SEEN-BY: 670/213 711/934 712/610 @PATH: 711/934 |
