Replying to a message of BOB KLAHN to CINDY HAGLUND: CH>>> Her two young children who were learning German took up CH>>> enjoying the comic... the dog's name was 'tin tin'... IIRC. BK>>> Rin tin tin I remember. CH>> LOL. NO NO not that Tin Tin... Heh. I'll ask my sister to CH>> be sure I've got it right.. :) And yeah now come to think CH>> of it I do remember that show This little dog in the comic CH>> was a terrier I think. Rin was a big German Shepherd. That CH>> was a western wasn't it? Sort of like Lassie of the West? BK> Yeah. Yo Rinny. You said it was in Germany, and Rin Tin Tin was BK> a *GERMAN* Shepard. The TV series was set in the 1870's US west. The humans - including a kid about 12 years old - were in the US cavalry. Very generally, the series was a clone of Lassie, using a German Shepherd (Alsatian) instead of a collie. FWIW, I remember the original Lassie TV series with Tommy Rettig (Jeff), Jan Clayton (his mom) and George Cleveland (his grandfather) and their brand new 1951 Ford station wagon. The 'farm' they lived on was actually an indoor stage set - incidentally, so was the Ponderosa Ranch of the much later Bonanza series. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:2905/3) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 2905/3 14/0 5 140/1 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
