AFAIK, Bill... The 123A is an AM-only rig, correct ?
Being a Tech myself, I don't believe 'we' can operate that
mode ANYwhere in the 10m band - so that would mean radically
changing the modulator circuitry of the radio (TX & RX) in
order to operate between 28.3 and 28.5 Mc SSB.
If I'm in error re: AM emissions on 10m - please advise.
The other alternative would be a conversion to FM, but there
again, I believe that mode is only 'legal' (in the USA at least)
above 28.5 Mc and 'we' as Techs don't have allocation above that.
I saw a project in an old book around here a couple years ago
about building a small FM De/Modulator that would accomplish this,
and if you're interested - I -MIGHT- be able to run it down.
(don't have a scanner though. :(
BTW: If you decide not to mess with it, and you consider throwing
the unit away - pack it up and send it here instead. I used
to have one of those and would welcome it in my collection.
(so far, I have a; Navaho, Comstat-25b, Pre-Mark Golden Eagle, ...)

... HamTECHS, pls see www.qsl.net/kb6lwn/antquest.html - Any help ?
