SL> bigger and all the echos together carry about 25-50 meg of mail per day.
PE> Yes, they tend not to answer that point.

That's coz they know I'm right.

Telstra have to figure out something soon. Perhaps now that they have taken
over AARnet and they provide cable/satelite TV then it wont be long before
a fibre optic cable runs close you your house and you can get them to run an
extention in for data comms. That'll make 38400 comms much easier. When/if
Telstra convert to digital, someone can just mix a modem with a LAN network
card, a digital link is much easier than all this MODulation DEModulation.

PE> It only takes me a few minutes to process the nodelist here.
PE> Since if I really cared about it, and I don't, I could run

Same here. But it gotta do it twice tho, one for frontdoor, one for the BBS.

SL> process and store. The current nodelist takes long enought to process and
PE> If you're experiencing time delays in searching the nodelist,
PE> change software. MSGED/SQ will match a nodelist to a userid

Not yet. Slight delays will become more noticable as the list gets bigger. Not
a real problem, but annoying.

PE> Anyway, I think that this "problem" should be dealt with when there
PE> is a hell of a lot more evidence for such a problem existing.
PE> Wake me up when you think we've reached that point, and I'll

When Telstra get off their butts and convert to digital, entirely, I'll drop
you a line. Won't a 38400 or even a 5-10 Mbps link be nice :)
