It's a valid philosphical point but then again buying the item new may
have better performance and features than were available in the old one.
In addition factoring inflation the new item probably costs less in
comparing equivalent dollars. Savings aren't always easy to determine.
One sure thing: the greatest savings is the money you didn't spend.
