You could give (not sell) the organization your material for private review
by a few officers perhaps, with a disclaimer that it's their problem to
license public performance if needed. Genessee Hospital reportedly got in
some serious trouble when it was caught playing the radio into its PA system
without licensing from ASCAP and BMI. Some churches are careful to use only
PD music, while others buy rights to some material.
Non-profits include some rather large businesses. If you were a vendor of
some other form of goods or services, would you donate rather than sell to
anyone who called you and offered to show proof of their 501(c)3 status?
