I'd recommend that you go Union.  If for no other reason, than to establish 
things as standard work rules, better pay, or professional representation, 
since the management side usually is interested in the bottom line, which may 
negatively effect the employee.  Since I've been in the Union for EMT's 
(Health Care Union district 1199/SEIU) working in State service, I've had 
nothing but good to say about them.  When EMT-Intermediates working in a 
tate
group home make about $18.00 per hour, the private Paramedics making $12.00 
per hour go, "Hmmmmmmmmm...."
