Hello Gerrit. 07 Feb 03 10:17, you wrote to me: GK>>> Feel free to report your compiling problems with msged in GK>>> FIDOSOFT.HUSKY; we will hopefully be able to help you. I must admit that GK> I've nerver heard of e-smith before. :) Cannot tell you which libs caused the problems, sorry, cannot replicate either as I have recently removed all un-needed bits to gain much needed HDD space. e-smith, now called Mitel? is a heavily scripted RedHat system, that results in an easy to setup and qyuick to use internet server and gateway system, but if you modify or add to it, you risk all you configs of the stuff you added, unless your are good at perl and other scripting and e-smith-ify you changes. RT>> libraries on that system, rather wait until I can upgade the box RT>> (486DX2 66, RT>> 630Meg HDD) and find the time to install a standard distro, and RT>> configure it RT>> to deliver the services the e-smith box currently delivers. GK> I see. However, if you have some HD-space to spare, you (or I) could GK> try to compile msged with the problematic libs statically linked. Hmm ... just copied Msged 6.0.0, smapi-2.0.0,huskybse-0.2.0 and fidoconf-0.1.0c, and it compiled fine, tho, with my prior attempts, smapi-1.6.4 and other husky utils where installed, and a few other programs. RT>> Should JAM support be reported to work well in MsgEd, it will RT>> provided me RT>> some "momentum" towards doing a standard distro install and the RT>> hell GK> Sorry, I don't use JAM myself, so I cannot tell much about that GK> point... Well on Linux, if you want to run a BBS, it would seem that JAM is the msgbase to use, Mystic supports JAM and Squish, but Squish has same status as JAM in Husky (MO), EleBBS also support JAM, MBSE support JAM. Not many other BBS packages worth looking at currently, and no chance of Squish for MBSE BBS. so I use JAM. :-(( Russell --- GoldED+/LNX 1.1.4.7* Origin: Rusty's BBS - Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa (5:7105/1) SEEN-BY: 24/903 120/544 123/500 132/500 400/300 633/104 260 262 267 270 285 SEEN-BY: 640/954 770/215 771/4020 774/605 2432/200 3830/9 7105/1 @PATH: 7105/1 3830/9 123/500 774/605 633/260 285 267 |
