Recently people said GCC compilers wouldn't be suited to implement important/commercial software. I'd like to inform that a rather modern and powerfull operating system, namely Mach, is written using GCC. Mach is the underlying OS of Steve Job's NextStep, and is commercial in that sense. I think if it is possible to write a modern OS using the GNU development environment, it certainly is possible to write normal OS/2 apps. Of course I know that most companies need the support/tools they get with commercial development environments, but there seem to be many people around here who think OS/2 compilers are expensive, while they can get a reasonable environment for free.
