PE> BTW, the ".exe" at the end is ignored, as far as I'm aware. PE> BFN. > Yair... I was shocked to find that Pascal requires the full name. NP> It ain't ignored ! See my previous note to paul. I think the NP> sequence of search is BAT COM EXE com, exe, bat... actually. I read what Paul wrote as meaning that the ".exe" was not necessary. NP> Yeah... you can add whatever you want to the batch file to NP> "tidy up". I have been running this way for years. The only NP> directories in the PATH should be for stuff you want to be able NP> to call from anywhere. Like small utils in a Batch file need to NP> be in a UTIL (or some such) directory in your Path. I actually did all that running ACAD, which needed to be started in one directory and then switched to another, but it never occurred to me to use it to avoid the PATH. You are quite right. There's not actually much you *need* to be on the PATH... it's just easier for programmers to add theirs to the PATH and forget it. NP> You can also add \.. to your path to force a look into the NP> parent directory of the one you are operating from. Oh. That's one I didn't know. I've been putting the root on the path. NP> ATTRIB, Resets all attributes on all files Resets them to WHAT? NP> DIR, Shows ALL files (inc system & hidden) I didn't know that one, either. It could be useful. NP> DIR ... Shows Directories but NOT Files Eh? No it doesn't! ... ohh... the ellipsis points are part of it! Bewdy! Thanks for the tips. Who said DOS was dead? It's just me.
