Did you even _try_ this?  Under OS/2 that command returns the error
message "SYS1078: The file cannot be copied onto itself."  

As I originally stated with a reference to the docs from DevCon3, and as
several others have confirmed, you _cannot_ have filenames with trailing
periods under OS/2.  Although I haven't checked this with TVFS, it is
explicitly forbidden in OS/2 file systems and should not be allowed
anywhere.
