PF>The "OPEN_SHARE_*" constants _only_ affect DosOpen(). IT> What other kind of 'open' is there? Your statement implies that The issue you brought up was a child program accepting a hot handle. You thought that OPEN_SHARE_DENY_NONE was required for this, EVEN THOUGH THE CHILD NEVER CALLS open(). This is the point I was trying to make: since the child never calls DosOpen() (et al), the sharing mode is irrelevant. PF> PF> IT> A child process inherits file handles obtained PF> IT> by its parent process, PF> IT> along with all sharing and access restrictions specified when the PF> IT> parent opened them. PF> PF>Correct; so what is important is the "OPEN_ACCESS_*" PF>flags, not the "OPEN_SHARE_*" flags. IT> Sharing restrictions ALSO apply, sharing is the inter-session control, ONLY IF THE CHILD PROCESS OPENS THE PORT, which we are not doing with an inherited handle.
