On 02 May 98 08:34:39, Russell Brooks said this to Bob Wingender
about "X2/V.90 backlog?":
WL>>> MobyTurbo is great -- I have friends who swear by it, and their
WL>>> cps-rates back their claims. Maybe I'll go ahead and get the
WL>>> DOS version of either DSZ or GSZ.
TR>>> Might as well. $30 for GSZ, $20 for DSZ. I got my GSZ for half
TR>>> price and my DSZ registration card, though, when it first came
TR>>> out. And, Chuck Forsberg pretty much guarantees you free
TR>>> upgrades on whatever products you register with him.
WL>> DSZ would probably be a worthwhile investment for the BBS I
 WL>> should have running soon.
WL>> Tom, I noticed your origin and it started me thinking about
 WL>> George Hatchew.
BW> hmmmmm. Kinda struck me as funny you would mention George Hatchew
 BW> but recommend DSZ.
BW> I'm a registered user of DSZ but when George released CEXYZ, I
BW> tried it and quickly converted all my transfer protocols to CEXYZ.
RB> So, what are the advantages of CEXYZ...Why havent i heard more about
RB> this protocol.. if it is so good.....Mind you I have been looking for
RB> new improved protocols for years and don't recall seeing this one.
RB> If it is so good ...why hasn't it taken over.
CEXYZ *isn't* a protocol; it's an external protocol *engine* that does
several flavors of Xmodem and Ymodem, as well as standard Zmodem. Two
advantages of this protocol engine: It's free, and it's easy to
install. The disadvantages are that it doesn't have all of the goodies
that DSZ has, and it doesn't do graphics at all. It also never was
supported if the user wasn't a registered user of another Cutting Edge
Computing product that uses an external protocol engine.
