If it happened only while downloading, I'd suspect 'lack-of-16550a-UART'....
If you do have 16550a UARTs, run TMINST and ensure FIFO support's enabled 
(under COM parameter->Flow control->16550 FIFO).
Also, in Options->Terminal->Flow control, ensure you _do_ have CTS/RTS 
checked; In Options->Dial setup, ensure you _don't_ have 'aUto baud detect' 
checked.
