Anyone have a clean and simple explaination for the M= C= D= S= stuff in the
logs? I know what the tech reference says, but I'm still unclear.
Heres a sample of a short one, since no mail is coming through again, thought
I'd grab the small log for an example from my test Rexx script:

Total Messages (Unpacked) .........12
Total M Messages (Copied * packed)...12 (copies * bbs's scanned -1)
Total C Messages (Copied)............8
Total D Messages (Done) .............4
Total S Messages (Skipped) ..........0
*********
If I unpacked 12 messages, which I did, then why is C= showing 8 messages?
I copied (packed?) 8 messages up for another BBS, so I guess thats what "C="
means. D=4, which means 4 messages were "Done". What the hell does that
mean?
I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean dupes, since I didn't have any. I would
think that number should be 12, since 12 were tossed (done?)
To save the trouble, heres what the docs say:
*********
M={number} Number of copies made, should be number of new messages
made times the number of boards you scan to, -1 if you're
re-packing mail, (because whoever sent it to you has
already seen it).
C={number} Number of messages copied. If you have 30 messages, and 10
new ones are scanned and copied, the Count will be 10
messages.
D={number} Messages already done, ie, if an area has 400 messages, 10
new ones arrive, 20 get scanned out, but 390 of that 400
were already scanned out some time previous.
S={number} Number of bad messages skipped.
***********
It "sort of" makes sense, but the wording is rather unclear to me, and my
numbers don't seem to jive with what I would expect. All I really want is
the number of msg's tossed, and why the M= and the number unpacked aren't
always the same (although in this packet, they were) Yesterday, the total
unpacked didn't = the M= figure, and the total dupes plus the M= didn't add
up to total unpacked either. Actually, nothing seemed to add up, other than
the C= number, which appears to be the number I scan out for another BBS.
The D= number I haven't a clue what that means. It appears to mean total
recieved minus total "Copied", a rather meaningless figure?
Could anyone help me get my head straight in all this?
