That depends on which is more important to you -- dynamic range or frequency
response. The more bits, the greater the dynamic range (16-bit gives you on
the order of 96dB); the higher the sample rate, the higher the frequency it
will record/reproduce (Nyquist's Theorum states that the minimum sample rate
should be twice the maximum frequency to be sampled -- in other words, a
38kHz sample rate limits you to a maximum of 19kHz audio).
