GD> What do big bucks have to do with anything? You obviously know nothing
GD> about the year 2000 issue?
RD> Simple. The more you make off your programming, the more you should
RD> be expected to think about this stuff. The fact that someone who's
RD> program is FREE to most people has put any thought into it should
RD> cheered and applauded. Especially considering how many corporations,
RD> with thousands of programmers and designers, making billions of
RD> dollars, never even worried about it.
Typical amateur response... It's not the past that counts, it's how
we're going to fix it once and for always...
GD> They have been yelled at, and those programs are now being fixed.
RD> At what cost to the nation?
Zero!
GD> And this is probably why you comment the way you do... :(
RD> You say that as if loyalty, friendship, and greatfulness are bad
RD> things.
Not at all. I run a Maximus BBS myself and am greatful to people like
Scott for providing such programs without charging for them. This
doesn't mean that it can't be a better product. You seem to take ALL
criticism as negative. It's NOT! I like to see Maximus survive, but if
Scott and loyalists like yourself are so sensitive about improvements,
I'm not so sure it will... :(
GD> Robby, may I ask you how many years of programming experience you have
GD> as a professional programmer? And what kinds of projects you have
GD> worked on?
RD> Not that's it relevant, but I have several BBS door IGMs that are all
RD> free, come with free tech support, and are all year 2000 irrelevant.
RD> I also run a 24/7 BBS that provides free access to all users, and,
RD> until my feed quit, proveded free email to users.
So by your own admission, you're really not a year 2000 expert, then?
RD> Now ask me how much it's going to cost me to upgrade the setup I use
RD> to provide all these free services!
Not that it really matters to this discussion, but let me guess... zero.
