While snooping on Bob Albert's messages I heard:
BA >I am trying to get a TS-930S working and I need some parts. Kenwood
BA >doesn't carry much any more, so a dead unit would yield a wealth of
BA >useful stuff.
BA >If you have a defunct unit, perhaps beyond reasonable repair, maybe
BA >it's been dropped or smoked or flooded or vandalized, let me know how
BA >much you'd like to get for it.
Bob it depends on how far you are trying to rebuild it. If you got
on that was lightning struck for example and the repair is over
four or five hundred bucks you're better off dropping in the bucket. But
if you just need things like componets, or maybe the fans, East Coast
Transistor has a good selection of parts and ships fairly quickly.
Call them toll free @ 1-800-776-2626. Kenwood for the most part doesn't
do major repairs to a dead board unless it is fairly simple. They just
replace whole circuit boards and that is why their repair prices are so
high. If you know what needs to be replaced, and can do it yourself,
you're cheaper and better off getting the part and do so. -73- Al
