Hi Bob,
If there's one thing you should know about me by now it is that I
don't lie. Well, not often .
I actually took delivery of the new car last Friday and we had it for
the weekend. It went into the shop first thing last Monday to be
finished and I got it back Friday morning. I had a bit of running
around to do on Saturday morning and was finished by about lunch-time
so I took the family down to Batemans Bay for a drive. I got the
milage "just right" too :)
As you know, they suggest that whilst running-in a new car you keep
it below 100 kph fir the first 500 klm and then mix it up a bit for
the next 500 klm. I managed to put 388 klm on it last week-end
before it went in and after I had finished running around on Saturday
morning, it had 490 klm on the clock when I got home.
We live 11 klm from the the start of the Expressway :)
We put another 520 klm on it this week-end and I can tell you that
without a doubt this is the best car I have ever owned. The whole
thing has been superbly engineered. It's almost as though the
accountants haven't been consulted at all. It's a great package.
I got a V6, VR Berlina with IRS/ABS/SRS and FE2. It is the dark blue
which Holden call Genesis and I've had the windows blacked out. The
wheels have been changed and it now sports a set of 16 x 7.5" Nascar
mags running 50 profile Falken rubber. The body kit consists of the
front and rear extensions from the SS with the SS wing and the side
skirts are from the SV-3800. It looks nice and it has the desired
effect too. When I come barreling down on someone driving in the
right hand lane they move over real quick :)
It is a great vehicle to drive and it's got quite a bit of stick
too. You don't need to worry when overtaking either as it will
quickly and easily run out to 160 kph before you know it and it's
as smooth as silk the whole time. It's almost like riding a rocket
on rails. I love it...
Heading down the coast, I turned off at Albion Park and went the
back way to Nowra through Jambaroo. I told Patricia that I wanted to
give the kids a chance to see the rain-forest at Minnimurra falls
while Cape Tribulation was fresh in their memories, so they could
see the difference between a Tropical and Sub-Tropical rain-forest.
Of course, I really wanted to check out the trick suspension and
wheel-tyre setup. I think I nailed it :) It just bites into the
corners at any speed and zings around them dead flat, regardless
as to the surface or condition of the road. Patricia had me sussed
out pretty quickly though, and after that she made the kids eat hot
chips and drink chocolate milk every time we stopped. Then whenever
I was getting ready to have some fun, she just said those words that
strike terror into the heart of every new car owner...
" Remember Dear, Greasy Chips and Chocolate Milk " ... The Bitch!
Regards, Brenton
PS. I forgot to mention. No more Horse's Heads for me. The boot in this
one has enough room for the whole bloody horse :)
