Hi Peter!

[..]
PF> 1) be attending for the first time (I'd like to meet new faces
Altough I'd really like to attend, I've not got a real chance as it is not
interesting for me to pay it on myself and my current employer is working
on the VMS/AIX/HPUX-field.

PF> 2) be interested in developing an IFS (this was my main talk last
PF> year, and didn't seem to draw huge audiences)?
In my opinion OS/2 should get a bunch of new IFSses. Especially many users
are not completely satisfied with
- the caching scheme (dynamic caching should be moved from the IFS towards
the kernel region.
- the abilities of the available IFSses. We want to have links, virtual
root, mount, umount, security, etc. TVFS is only a step in the right
direction. But a little bird told me, that OS/2 for the PowerPC has got a
filemanager underlying which works with JFS.

Anyway, I believe IFS-development is not very interesting for attendees not
developing network clients, operating systems or stacker-like filesystems.

PF> 3) want to attend a topic called something like "Undocumented,
PF> little known, or just plain handy OS/2 stuff".
Oh, we're having a good time here in this area ;-)

Interesting topics for developers could be:
- SOM2, DSOM
- OpenDoc
- GPI
but I think these are already covered by their developers ... ?

- distributed applications and services (e.g. via TCP/IP)
- memory management (how to save resources and how to speed up applications)
- Rexx extensions and Rexx support in applications
- user profile management to provide security (as I heard Warp 4 Klingon
shall get C2-Security)
