| subject: | Re: PLS HELP, URGENT - FAILING HARD DRIVE |
From: Ellen K.
Well, the machine's dead now.
Worst of all, A BUNCH OF STUFF I OSTENSIBLY BURNED ONTO CD's THIS MORNING
DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THEM NOW. I am extremely upset... until I
discovered this I was thinking, ok, so I lose a couple days out of my life
reinstalling apps, stop feeling like the world has come to an end. I guess
this is not REALLY the end of the world either, but some of that stuff I
can't replace and I'm very very upset about it.
IF THE NEW DRIVE IS THE NEW C, WILL IT BE POSSIBLE TO GET ANY DATA OFF THE
OLD ONE IF I CAN GET SOMEONE TO ATTACH IT TO THE OTHER CABLE?
And/or if I install the backup software on this box, AND the missing files
ARE on the backup CD's that got created before the machine blew up, could I
restore them onto this one? If it makes any difference, the other machine
is NTFS and this one is FAT32.
