EH>Y'know, my dove "Kookyroos" but I don't think I've heard him laugh! The
EH>last one I had laughed all the time. Do you suppose that might be
EH>significant? As to sex or something? I AM considering getting this one
Perhaps it's the males...
EH>a companion, but I'd like some idea as to which is what!
EH>-> Hey quail are even less intelligent!
EH>Lord yes! Dumbest birds I've ever seen. Make turkeys look like Rhodes
EH>Scholars!
I had a domestic white turkey tom once and he was the stupidest thing I
ever saw. I had to buy a baby chicken to teach him how to eat. And
when he was about grown he climbed up on top of some stacked cages
to sleep, fell off and broke his leg. And it was the weekend of the
vet convention so I couldn't find anyone to set it and he died.
EH>-> A YCA is one of the big three yellow headed amazons. There are
EH>-> DYHA's which are just now being classed seperately from other Amazona
EH>-> Ochrocephalas, and I think now the Tres Marias are being thought of
EH>-> as a seperate thing altogether now.
EH>My book says the Tres Marias ARE a separate species. Certainly not the
EH>same as the Yellow Naped. We have lots of parrots pass through here
EH>that are CALLED DYHA but they aren't really. I think they're what you
EH>call a Yellow Fronted....
I think they are still classing the Magna DYHs and all the Napes as
Ochrocephalas.
My birds are in the yard too. We own an acre, and they take up about
1/4th of it.
