Hello Frank
Replying to a message of Frank Swarbrick to Michael Reed:
[Genesis]
FS> For Genesis I think their second album, _Trespass_, is a pretty good
FS> place to start. It's probably the most easily accessable of the
FS> early albums (other than the first one, which is basically a pop
FS> album), and it's also darn good. Don't start with _Foxtrot_, no
FS> matter what anyone here tells you! It's a good album, but it takes
FS> some listening to get into it, so it might turn you off at first.
 FS> And we don't want that! :-)
Thanks for the advice. I'll keep an eye out for Trespass then. I've just
bought Abacab on LP for 99p. I really like most of it. Particualy the title
track. I wish there was more of Mike Rutherfud's guitar playing on it. He
plays some nice lead on the first song. I've only had it for a couple of days
so I'm still finding my way around it!
FS> As for Marillion, any of the first four studio albums are worth
FS> getting. I'm not as fond of _Fugazi_, myself, but a lot of people
I had this about two years ago and didn't really like it. To be honest I
didn't give it much of a chance, I just listened to the first couple of songs
and gave it away to someone.
[later ablums vs. early]
FS> They're OK, but simply liking earlier ones will not
FS> necessarily mean you like these ones.
Thanks, I'll these albums to my look for list.
Bye then,
