Locks up SOLID!  We're talking a power down re-boot here.  Worst thing is that
it doesn't always happen at the same place in the code.  I think I'm going
to give up and start re-coding this one from the ground up.

For what it's worth, at one point I thought I had it nailed down because it
was 100% repeatable (the original exception error, not the lockup).  It was
during the reading of a text-based configuration file and I was using
strtok() to check for configuration verbs.  Worked fine until it
encountered a blank line read in with fgets(), which passed the string
"\n" to the strtok() function. The delimiters passed were "
\n".  It worked fine up to that point in the configuration file.  I've
since tried hard coding the same thing into a test program and it functions
flawlessly.  Beats me...
