I don't know much about Genesis (except that I've now listened to The
Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and I didn't like it very much) and everyone
will tell you a different favourite Marillion album... Not many people
like Fugazi much, but those who get into it absolutely love it. Misplaced
Childhood is popular, but I personally don't like it all that much.
Clutching at Straws is brilliant - usual intelligent lyrics, and some
really great hummable tunes. Season's End (first without Fish and with
Steve Hogarth) is a good all rounder. Everyone likes at least one track
from SE. I don't like Holidays in Eden - too commercial for me, for the
most part. There are a couple of good tracks on it. Brave is an
absolute masterpiece, but you have to do what it says on the sleeve -
listen to it loud with the lights off. Afraid of Sunlight is good too -
one of my favourite albums of theirs. There are a lot of songs about
specific people on it, as well as other subjects. I don't like the
latest one, This Strange Engine, yet but I'm gradually getting into it.
It took me a long time to get into AoS as well.
Have you tried any of Fish's solo work? Try Vigil in a Wilderness of
Mirrors or Sunsets on Empire.
Now, you can tell me what the best Pink Floyd albums are in return for
that little lot!
MR> Most of the music I like is Pop/Rock/Metal. I think a lot of the the
Pop?! You admit listening to pop?! Tut tut... actually I have to admit
liking straight (as opposed to prog) rock (and /occasionally/ metal) but
there's not really anything in the charts that interests me.
MR> NR: Heart Of Darkness + The Colour Of Magic.
Have you read pTerry's other books?
