I don't know about most people, but *I* prefer full screen mode for just
about any program that doesn't specifically need graphics.  There's a
market for them... I specifically picked an OS/2 full screen mail reader,
editor, and comm program.  I'm targetting full screen for all my programming
projects right now, although I'll be moving one to PM this summer, probably.
