Yet despite this screening of police officers, we seem
unable to weed out those who are racist, overly-violent,
open to temptation, etc... I really don't think our
screening instruments are particularly good for this
purpose?! While the majority of police officers may, in
fact, be fine people, the same is CERTAINLY true of
educators in general!
I take your meaning, but I'm not sure I care for the
implication that police are somehow to be considered
superior in terms of character, etc because they have been
screened; and while you may argue that this was not what
you meant, without that implication, your suggestion of
screening seems pretty pointless?!
I've no problem with running background checks, etc, I'm
just not sure that this is some kind of major problem...
