| subject: | VXRexx Book |
Greetings from Puget Sound ERIS: On 04-04-1995 you stated to ME regarding 'VXRexx Book' ER> Thanks for the lead on a book for VXRexx, *Writing VX-Rexx Programs*, by ER> Ronny Richardson. It sounds like it's more an intermediate book, rather ER> than a introduction to Rexx/VXRexx. I'm not a beginning programmer, but I ER> *am* new to Rexx programming...so, I guess I'll just have to see the book ER> to decide how much it'll help me. ;> You may already know this but let be bore you a little. VX-REXX is a thrid party enhancemet to OS/2 REXX, as is VisPro REXX. Stright REXX is basically a batch command language, whereas VisPro and VX-REXX allow you the ability to bui d GUIs on top of regular REXX. Regular REXX, to my knowledge, cannot build a win ow or change a screen color on its own. I suppose one could learn REXX using VX-REXX, especially one that is not a beginning programmer, as long as they kept the GUI 'KISS'. I don't think you will find it as difficult as it might seem. However, the same author, Ronny Richardson, also wrote a book titled 'Writing OS/2 REXX Programs' and he states that this is a guide for new readers. Good luck in whatever you decide to do, George --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12* Origin: TBE BBS þ Federal Way, WA. þ 206-952-4332 (1:343/85.0) SEEN-BY: 105/42 620/243 711/401 409 410 413 430 807 808 809 934 955 712/407 SEEN-BY: 712/515 628 704 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 343/85 300 1 138/103 3615/50 396/1 270/101 105/103 42 712/515 711/808 @PATH: 711/809 934 |
