  The things we did for our friends.......  I took a butt kickin'
one night so my best buddy wouldn't catch his girlfriend in the wrong
car.......
He and I used to have "Flat changing contests" to see who got the pick
of the 'girl pool.'  Either one of us could change the spare in less
than two minutes. (With bumper jacks yet.)
-> We never had Sprints as a week in week out event.  Mostly they just
-> visited on an irregular basis.  When I left the midwest and that 1/2
-> mile dirt track in 66, the day of the six's and flatheads was gone
-> forever...
Oh, I loved the Sprint Cars.  My _Kids_ loved the Sprints.  My baby
daughter would be asleep on a bleacher seat when the sprints came out
and she'd wake up and shout "Danny Wandolf" who was her favorite driver,
when she heard the crackle of those short stacks.
We'll never hear engines like that again.......
