My favourite reply... people tend to always compare racers...
Simply put RACERS are in a different world most of the time...
During RACES they have support... including first aid, pickup wagons,
mechanics whatever... all of which can be in short supply on regular rides.
During TRAINING they can be equally out of it... (THANKFULLY NOT ALL)...
I rode with one group (once) and observed it many times... never let red 
ight
or stop signs, traffic or anything break their training rides... bloody

if you ask me... missed a lot of good sprints and start practices... Only a
handful were what I would consider a good cyclist... the others were simply
gutsy and fast, which is ok for a RACER on a RACE course... What they do 
here
is their business... unless I'm the steward...
As for the heat... I suffer it as well, that is the sign of a less than well
ventilated hat... like I said... new designs make it better, but check the
haircut etc... you can go bug GARNEAU for a new design to suit you 'hotheads'
if you like... but watch out for Scoops and turbo fans... they stick to the
road you know...
