Hello Glen! 29 Apr 95, Glen Knowles writes to Peter Fitzsimmons: >> hab = 0; /* this is not documented, but works with the Prf...() >> * functions. Usually, you have to call WinInitialize(), >> * which means you are a PM program. */ GK> Why not use "hab = WinInitialize(0);" ? I've made a number of vio apps GK> that manipulate .ini files this way. I'm unaware of any prerequistes to GK> call WinInitialize (like requiring that you be a pm program). I guess that would be okay, but what about if someone were running a *very* bare OS/2 system - just TSHELL and all the WPS/PM DLLs deleted. If they had deleted PMWIN.DLL (the DLL that contains WinInitialize), they wouldn't be able to run your VIO program. I know that there aren't *that* many people who have a setup such as this, but if you're writing a VIO program, why make it dependent on having the PM DLLs installed? bcnu, Richard. --- GoldED 2.40* Origin: Floating Point/2 (2:250/109.10) SEEN-BY: 105/42 620/243 711/401 409 410 413 430 807 808 809 934 955 712/407 SEEN-BY: 712/515 628 704 713/888 800/1 7877/2809 @PATH: 250/109 25/10 250/107 255/1 440/4 141/209 270/101 105/103 42 712/515 @PATH: 711/808 809 934 |
