I've never seen anyone using this, what I heard was a report after the
man died when I was working in Alaska.
What I have observed is that when humans cling to something for a long
period of time, a belief that is, it is either a part of several
religions such as is the virgin birth, or that there is some truth in
it such as that about Laetrile.
One makes as much sense as the other one does.  No male child can be the
result of a virgin birth.  There has to be a male parent.  There have
been female children born that are supposedly from virgin births, not
male.
I spent my nineteenth year learning to cope with the mentally ill at St.
Elizabeths in Washington, D.C.  STudent nurses have time to listen, and
there was a small grain of truth in the tales most of them told unless
they were there due to tertiary syphillis.  Then they just fabricated
most of what they said to students.
I also learned that if one insists upon hard cold scientific evidence
where there is presumption of emperic evidence, then one misses a lot in
life.
