 BL> How common are trunked radio scanners and how good are they?
     The Uniden Trunktracker is the first scanner capable of following a
trunked radio system!  It has only been available for about 2 months now
but I suspect it will be very popular with scanner enthusiasts in areas
using the 800Mhz trunked radio systems.
     Radio Shack is supposed to be coming out with the Realistic PRO-90
which is the same scanner manufactured by Uniden for Radio Shack but will
carry the Realistic name rather than the Uniden name.  I haven't seen any
in any of the stores and their sales people don't know when to expect it.
     How common these scanners will be depends on how much of the country
can make use of them.  I live in the Orlando Florida area which is almost
exclusively 800Mhz.  They have become very popular in this area.  There are
atleast 6 people in the agency I work for that have purchased them already.
There are some parts of the country that don't use 800Mhz at all and these
scanners might not be of any particular interest to people in these areas
although they do cover most of the standard bands and work excellent on
conventional radio systems.
