Hi, Karen
BD> Jealous husbands, and all thet jazz? Hehheheheh
KW> Oh, did I mention him on this echo?
Only by ESP, to which I am sometimes keenly attuned.. O:-)
BD> I felt much that way once but now [even the thought is nightmare]
KW> Hmmmm.....you must have been photographing "real" news. My little
KW> village has little of that..
As real as it gets, from the aftermath of commercial plane crashes
and coastal hurricanes to the everyday things like fires, auto
pileups, bank robberies, etc.. The few bright spots were getting
to meet some real stars and dignitaries, and of course there were
always the occasional beauty contests! (I can just hear it now,
"#@*&%^@ male chauvinst pigs!") Hehhehheh
KW> Interacting with the people was the fun part. They were much more
KW> helpful to me when I had the camera than when I had a notepad :)
I've always maintained cameras are magic!
BD> Everyone recognizes the primaries, RGB, but some may not be..
BD> comfortable with.. secondaries.. Magenta is half red, half blue,
BD> Yellow is red and green (though it never seemed possible in my
BD> head!), and; cyan is a mixture of blue and green.
KW> Gee, where I come from we learned that primary colors were red
KW> blue and yellow, and that blue and yellow make green..
BD> Photographic color processes are all based upon that premise,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ in one way or another..
KW> [Schooldays, crayons and paint mixes].. makes far more sence..
KW> since I can duplicate that. I see no way on earth that red and
KW> green can make yellow.
If you simultaneously project those two colors onto a white screen,
the areas which overlap form a sparkling, bright yellow. Try it.
From earlier messages it appeared this might be the source of some
confusion, since understanding photographic color also indictates
an obvious choice of filters for any given application.
KW> .. Now I will have to dig around in the basement to see if I
KW> can find what my manual has to say on that subject :(
If you're using the medium for which the manual was written it is
most likely correct! By the same token, photography has its own
relationships in dealing with color. Remember that old adage,
"When in Rome, do as the Romans do.."?
In photography, cause and effects of color are easily demonstrated
by a color triangle. PAKO used to give them away for advertising,
and if I still had some I'd send you one. For now, just memorize
what is involved and believe in it. The "wherefores" will come in
due time.

KW> ... If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?
Who said I wasn't happy?????? Hehhehheh
... I'm not bothered by obscene thoughts, I *enjoy* them!
