RJT> What kind of machine is this? Sounds like some Compaq stuff I ran
RJT> across...
Actually it was an Epson. The same problems as I had with another
computer I was given, a Compaq that also died.
And I've seen a couple of others whose brands I can't remember.
I guess we remember them more just because they can't be fixed or
upgraded.
GM> At least I get a mouse, a keyboard, and some internal cables out of
GM> the exercise...
RJT> That's more than I got out of this Compaq 286 machine that somebody
RJT> gave me a while back, the floppy was definitely nonstandard, the HDD
RJT> was an 80M drive, the PS was very definitely nonstandard, the RAM was
RJT> soldered in, and most of the internal cabling was proprietary. At
RJT> least I'll get some scrap out of it.
I still have a 40m and an 80m that came out of my Compaq. I
_might_ use then one day to build a low end machine with some 486
m'boards I bought "as-new" that I haven't got around to using
yet...
