I'm taking a class in Intro to C++ and bought an academic priced version
of Visual C++ (v5 Professional Edition, I think) which had a copy of Win
NT 4.0 included (not a bad deal for $110.) I get a lot (couple of times
a week) of 'Blue screen of death' core dumps in VC++ (mostly, though
I've gotten them in other apps.) I've upgraded NT to Service Pack 3,
but they've continued. I've looked on Microsoft's site searching for
upgrades to VC++ with no results, but it wasn't an exhaustive search
since I was using Netscape under OS/2 at the time (it *really* didn't
like MS's Java code.) What is the current service level for VC++ and
how do I get my software upgraded to it? Is the core dump screen only,
or is it written to disk for debugging purposes? And how do I tell
which application (or thread or whatever) is truly causing the dump?
