Thanks again for your help George.
I've decided to give up on Telemate for Windows, and have gone back to
RIPterm v2.2 (for DOS). I've asked my question on a couple of other nets,
and no one has been able to come up with an answer as to why Zmodem on a
couple of Windows-based telecomm programs doesn't appear to like my system.
One independent hardware specialist that I know has advised me to contact
the computer's manufacturer, as he believes the problem lies with their
modem card not following the defacto industry standard. He says that the
manufacturer makes their own modems.
I've since talked to the manufacturer, who makes no claims that the modem
will work with Windows-based telecomm software. In fact, the telecomm-only
package that originally came with the computer was a DOS-based product. I
guess that tells me something.
I could solve all of this and go out and spend the money on a new modem.
But, money is the issue right now (have been unemployed for over two years),
and things like computer upgrades are at the bottom of the "spend money"
list. :)
I'll just have to find some non-computer related things to do while my large
files are being transferred.
Again, thanks for the attempted help.
