What a competition you have started! Two surgeries bracketed three trips to
emergency last week for me. We have a "Call a nurse" system in
this province in
an attempt to alleviate wait times in triage. I was looking for them to let me
stay home, where they insisted I go stand in an emergency ward for another five
hours. (Few seats are tolerable for my iatrogenic afflicted hip, and often the
foam used on a gurney do nothing for it either.)
After my second five-hour stint in so many days, I had to hobble outside to lie
flat on my back and prop my legs up on the "Pay To Park" vending machine.
Shoot... I dropped close to $100 in taxi fairs ("You're still under the effects
of the anaesthetic/You might be experiencing severe internal bleeding.") or
parking. (Six days post op, and I was feeling no more light-headed than usual.
;-) Good thing they *didn't* have a bed available for me that day, or parking
overnight would have hit my wallet pretty hard. Why can't they validate parking
for their repeat "customers"?
... The road to hell is paved with legislation.
