If you are watching tonight's K-1 PPV, we'll be doing a post-show
poll, so you can vote thumbs up, thumbs down or thumbs in the middle
along with a best and worst match to dave{at}wrestlingobserver.com.
Spoilers are up on the site. One Japanese report said it was the K-1
version of watching the last year of WCW and it was a terrible show.

Tonight's K-1 PPV line-up:
*Sam Greco vs. Peter Graham (Greco is a former WCW wrestler who was a
K-1 star in the 90s)
*Francisco Filho vs. Stefan Leko
*Ray Sefo vs. Carter Williams
*Mike Bernardo vs. Alexey Ignashov
*Peter Aerts vs. Jerrel Venetiaan
*Francois Botha vs. Cyril Abidi
*Bob Sapp vs. Remi Bonjasky

Bryan Alvarez and I will be back tomorrow night with Wrestling
Observer Live on the Sports Byline radio network from 8-10 p.m.
Eastern time and 5-7 p.m. Pacific time, talking about all these
events, as well as the current WWE product, the Tim Sylvia failed
steroid test and what it means, Hogan in TNA, the odds on upcoming
wrestling, UFC and Pride shows, and anything else you want to discuss
at 1-800-878-play. You can check out www.sportsbyline.com for both a
list of stations around North America carrying the show (not all
network stations carry it), or listen live through their web site,
through this web site, or at www.dragonkingpress.com. We've got a few
guests lined up as well, and in the second hour, we'll have Randy
Couture, the UFC light heavyweight champion, talking about his future,
Tito Ortiz, the Pride Grand Prix, plus his very interesting life story
and wrestling background, as well as training and diet that have
enabled him to be king of the mountain at the age of 40, steroid-free.

--El Hijo del Santo beat Super Parka last night in Tijuana, as if
there was any doubt of that.

--We haven't heard anything definite on whether Bob Sapp would be able
to participate in Monday's New Japan show after his fight earlier
today. Sapp was said to have taken some good punishment, although not
to the level Dos Caras Jr. took last Sunday, and he worked the Tijuana
show last night.

--As best we can tell, Kane did not appear on last night's show in
Louisville. We should have more on that tomorrow. Booker T started
back as scheduled last night and will return to Raw Monday.

--UFC is scheduled for Sunshine Network at 9 p.m. tonight

--We noted yesterday a San Francisco Chronicle story on Pro Wrestling
Iron, based on their training and a recent house show in Pinole Valley
(a city not far from San Francisco). Among the people interviewed were
Manny Fernandez, who apparently is the wrestling coach at Live Oak
High School in Morgan Hill, CA (not far from San Jose, where he went
to high school a long time ago). Anyway, according to the story, he
played 1977-80 for the Kansas City Chiefs (well, West Texas State). He
said he made more money as a pro wrestler than he ever did in the NFL.
Now that would be true, since he never played in the NFL. He said he
made $180,000 a year in NWA, was stabbed eight times and shot once.
Well, he did get into a lot of bar fights in his day, but the money
figure is ridiculous. He said he needs a knee and hip replacement.

--Ricky Marvin was not on the airplane coming to Japan for the current
NOAH tour and missed the first show. Don't know if he's coming or why
he wasn't on the plane.

--Gateway Championship Wrestling from last night in St. Louis: Trainee
DD b Super Castaldi IV, Jeremy Lightfoot d Jackal, Chaz Wesson b Super
Electro, D'Mon G DCOR Cabal, Diamond Back Dingo b Rat Boy, C.J.
McManus won four-corners match over Billy McNeil, Mike Sharona and
Outkast, Jynx b Makaze, Kory Twist b Ian Storm, MsChif b Daizee Haze,
Nikki Strychnine b Delirious. There is a free TV taping at Aggie's in
St. Louis tonight.

--WWE.com had a story of the famous Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels Hell
in a Cell match from St. Louis in 1997 (the day Brian Pillman died so
I just remember being completely spaced out while watching what was,
at the time, one of the best cage matches in history). They talked
about the match lasting nearly one hour, which is I guess what happens
over time. The match did last nearly a half hour, though. (thanks to
Mike DeMarco)

--Ivan Rodriguez of the Marlins came out to bat last night to "Time to
play the game" by Motorhead (thanks to Chase Frye)

--Dan Severn and Butterbean had a boxing match last night in Iowa.
Bean was beating on Severn for three rounds until Severn kept taking
him down in the fourth. Since that is illegal in boxing, the finish
was a DQ. What is with all these DQs in the last 24 hours in fights?
Something smells fishy.

--ESPN Magazine has a section called "Ask Stuart Scott" and he's asked
(with a photo of Tony Atlas with a chin lock on Hulk Hogan that must
be, oh, 23 years old by now), said "How would you get out of a
headlock?" Start basically said he'd wiggle his hips like the old
stereotypical black wrestlers of the 70s used to do and slide right
out with his greasy hair. If that didn't work, he'd used an atomic
drop. (thanks to Chris Najdek)

--New Millennium Wrestling has a show in Kings Mountain, NC tonight at
8 p.m.

--Diego Sanchez of operasanchez{at}yahoo.com is looking for tapes of WCW
syndicated shows hosted by Terry Taylor and Larry Zbyszko
