| subject: | VB Telix |
Hi Bob, BL> I have just realised what Telix is: a pretty face and BL> bugger all else. I've got my VB dialler working, and all I need to BL> write a VB Telix is ZModem and a user interface. This is pathetic! I BL> suddenly understand why VB has people quacking like ducks... most of BL> these bloody programs are just a pretty face. We've had a win have we Bob ? :) BL> I found a funny example of VB gone made this morning... There are lots of them Bob. This is what I think David is leaning towards with his thread in AVT. The silly part is that he is right but nobody will give him a go. It is much easier to knock him down but in reality, David is where the _real_ market is at. He doesn't sit in an ivory tower with 7,958 other people working for a corporation which doesn't really need you to do anything. He is working with people who are employed by small companies with 5 to 10 PC's and every second you fuck around actually costs them money. This is why most businesses still use DOS applications. Another silly thing is that these same people then go home and start Windoze on their PC's at home. Then they wonder why their home machine crashes all the time. BL> There is a disc-copy program called QCopy written by a German BL> bastard named Feldmuller (obviously an ex-member of the SS). It is a BL> little ripper! It'll copy anything to anything, across formats, and it BL> only copies the used parts of discs, nealty apcking it all up on the BL> new disc. It's so fast I use it to compress floppies. Can you make me a copy please :) BL> He gets at the hardware itself to make it fast, and unfortunately, BL> every so often it fucks up and locks the floppy drive so you have to BL> reboot. Even so, I use it all the time. It;'s worth the occasional BL> stuffup, and I've been waiting for Herr Feldmuller to write version BL> 2.0. I can understand that. I'll live with the occasional stuff-up too. BL> This morning I found the Windows version of the BBS. Oh, joy! O BL> great and wonderful Ba'al! I shoukd have known better. BL> Herr Feldmuller's 25K QCopy DOS program has grown a little in VB. He BL> uses three DLL's totalling 320K, and the EXE is another 350K. ROFL!!! BL> A simple diskcopy program takes 670K of code! ROFL!!! The installer BL> program is 120K! BL> ... fx: bursts into hysterical weeping BL> I dod't bother trying it... ROFL...It's a problem. Meanwhile Paul is pissing his money up against the wall in rubber. If he was smart he would have been pumping all his money into Seagate and then taken up VB programming :) Cheers, Brenton @EOT: ---* Origin: TestPoint (3:711/934.7) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
