Purpose and Guidelines for International WIN_ACCESS FidoNet Conference
PURPOSE
The International WIN_ACCESS Echo conference is intended to foster
discussion and support of the Microsoft Access Relational Database
System for Windows. This conference is intended as a source of answers to
questions users might have about Microsoft Access Software, and as a
clearing house for new information about products offered by Microsoft
and various third party vendors. Hands-on reviews of such products
are encouraged, especially with hard facts and data. Developers and
programmers are also encouraged to share tips/hints and to seek advice
from other programmers. We invite everyone who uses Microsoft Access,
or who is interested in Microsoft Access, to participate in this
conference through the free, friendly and helpful exchange of
information.
RULES
1) All messages are to be in some way related to Microsoft Access
operation. Discussion of other Database systems should be carried on
in their respective conferences. Microsoft Access is not for everyone.
If it is not your 'cup of tea you don't belong here. Microsoft Access
and ANY company or product bashing is considered "Excessively Annoying
Behavior" and will be dealt with as such. Including and not limited
to warnings or having your feed cut. Hopefully this will never be
necessary.
2) All messages will contain a complete, real name; either in the header
or the actual message text. Handles are not allowed. The use of
Anonymous Remailers to send or Receive messages into and from this
conference is strictly prohibited.
3) All boards carrying this conference must display a valid FidoNet
origin line. This means that it should identify (Zone:Net/Node) at the
end. Appropriate "Seen-byes" and "Path" lines should follow the origin
line and precede a single proper end-of-file mark. Systems in other
networks (e.g. Alternate, etc.) are welcome, but network
administrators should ensure there are no duplicate rings created by
importing this conference and a system should be designated to gate
messages between FidoNet and such other networks. Administrators in
other networks are requested to contact us before beginning a feed to
this conference.
4) If there is a complaint about a user in this conference, a PRIVATE
NETMAIL message should be sent to the Moderator (see address below).
Do NOT enter messages of complaint to the Moderator or to the
offending user via the conference itself.
5) This conference shall not be used by any individual or group to
promote or support a commercial product or service. If the
representative of a company chooses to participate, he/she should do
so as any other WIN_ACCESS conference user might ... with the
intention of helping others better use Microsoft Access.
6) BBS or point operators shall not post useless "This is a test."
messages in this conference. To do so constitutes "Excessively
Annoying Behavior".
7) As this conference is intended as a source of information and
assistance to our fellow WIN_ACCESS users, we expect each message to
reflect this philosophy. We will not tolerate "flaming" (personal
attacks) or improper (vulgar) language. Messages should be "on-topic",
i.e. they should be about Microsoft Access, products for Microsoft
Access, or Microsoft Access programming.
8) The official language of this conference is English. Non-English
messages are acceptable if an English translation is included in the
message.
9) Spelling DOES NOT COUNT! (Thank you Tim Carter!)
10) Messages posted in this conference are considered to be in the public
domain. As such, they are subject to reproduction in other media.
Private Messages are not allowed.
11) Software piracy of any kind (including, but not limited to the
posting of shareware registration codes or bypass methods) is grounds
for immediate disconnection from the WIN_ACCESS conference.
12) Any obvious infractions against NDA's (non-disclosure agreements)
will be reported to the appropriate parties.
13) Users who violate any of the above rules will usually receive a
NETMAIL message informing them of their infractions and a copy will
be sent to their system operator. The behavior must cease
immediately and the notice shall constitute a warning of possible
disciplinarian action. If the user is involved in further violations,
he or she shall be removed from the conference or system by his/her
system operator for a period of time commensurate with the level of
infraction as agreed upon by the sysop and the Moderator. (Exception:
See #11)
14) Rulings of the Moderator are final. I will entertain *INTELLIGENT*
discussion of the matter, through NETMAIL.
16) Name calling, and any derogatory comments of any user or groups of
users is strictly prohibited even if they don't use the same database
system you like.
17) There is NO Rule 17.
