Would anyone know of a commercially available publication giving
the structure, syntax, etc of Access Basic? I have seen several
door-stopper size books in Australian bookshops but they spend most of their
time re-hashing what is contained in the Microsoft manuals, they add little
new information. Last year I had a six-month contract migrating a database
into Access but was supplied with only the 'users' manuals, not the
'developers' kit. As a result I learned a lot about forms, queries,
reports, etc, but not much about Access Basic. There is now a chance of
another contract which would take me into Access Basic and I am keen to get
it. It would obviously enhance my chances the more knowledgeably I could
talk so I am trying to read up. Ideally what I would like is something
comparable to the Excel 'Functions and Macros' book that would list all the
available component parts, say to which properties they belonged, what they
could do, what parameters they carried, etc. Essentially a reference rather
than a teaching book. Something to go into with problem such as 'how do I
program to print the number of copies specified in a memory variable' and be
told which commands or functions would do that. I am not yet sure just what
this new contract will require but it looks like a bit of a grab-bag that
would need me to jump around mentally, thinking up intelligent solutions to
awkward problems. So - I am trying to get myself into limbo!
