You might be right about that, Geroge. Care to look into whether or not
Deleware is her state of residence? As I recall, the Brady's live in the
D.C. area. In which case, the described purchase in Deleware would be a
violation of law, would it not?
In any case, upon further reflection, I believe it is a made up story by
our dear Sara. Sara has difficulty telling the truth and will distort
reality to suit her needs. For example I've heard several differing
accounts about why she decided to join the anti's. The one that sticks out
in my mind is her account about her son climbing into the cab of her
brother's pickup truck at a family gathering at Centralia Lake, about 15
miles North of here. Sara alledges that her son was playing with a loaded
gun her brother had left on the seat and she was shocked to discover it was
the exact same model as Hinkley had used to wound the President and Jim!
How's that for coincidence? Supposing that Sara would recognize the exact
same model of gun (it wasn't a model from a major manufacturer), does it
make sense that her brother (her family lives in the Alexandria, Va. area)
would drive several hundred miles to Centralia, Illinois, for a weekend
family outing......AND with a loaded pistol on the seat of his truck?
My bet is that it is another of her *folksey* stories concocted to sell
the notion that she's just a *regular* reasonable, down home, girl who's
only interest is saving the little tikes.

PS-- Think about this. Most gift gun purchases I've witnessed, the
recipient is present to make sure/or assure that the gun, make, model,
caliber, fit, and other features are suitable/acceptable. Other times, the
recipient had pre-selected the gun and informed the gun shop personnel of
the choice, followed by the appearance of the gift buyer. A gun is an
expensive purchase, with rifles going in the range of $1,000 & up. So, here
we have our Sara just poping into a gun shop and picking up a 30-06 rifle
for her son, like she'd pick up batteries at the convience store.....on
impulse. You can believe what you want. I say it's a bogus story. --JB
