.. One fine day, Brenton waffled to Dieter.. Hello Brenton, DM> 1) What does , (comma) do ? ie copy xxxxx, xxxxx\xxxxx BV> It's a delimiter and works the same as the space. I use it in batch BV> files and when typing long lines because it make it more readable to BV> _me_. OK. DM> 2) Where there are subroutines ie :end, can they be called from DM> anywhere within the batch, or only at a stage preceeding that DM> subroutine ? BV> You can call (goto) them from anywhere. OK DM> 3) Are subroutines processed if the preceeding sub has no call ? BV> Ke ? Any and _ALL_ lines in a batch file are executed in sequence BV> when they are reached. IOW, unless you specifically jump over a line BV> it will be executed. That's why they have labels and goto's. OK again - you understood the intent of my question. DM> 4) Relating to TPOINT Sendmail.bat, what does NoMerge supposed DM> to do ? BV> I haven't looked at it since writing it, but from memory... BV> TPOINT looks to see if a previous mail run was aborted or failed. BV> If there is NEW mail to send and a previous invocation was not BV> completed then there will be a PKT file waiting to be sent. It knows BV> that it must merge the NEW mail (which is in QWK format) with the BV> PKT that is sitting in the TXFILES directory. In this instance it BV> merges the NEW and OLD files so that you end up with one file to BV> upload to your host. If there is no new mail or no old mail then it BV> doesn't have to merge the packets and it can simply process the BV> current stuff or leave the old PKT file there. the :NoMerge label is BV> simply a jump point if the two files don't need to be merged because BV> there is only one fail. Clear as mud now ? No - I think you've got it arse about face, but I'm not handy to the actual files, but NoMerge is passed through at every invocation in Sendmail if the previous attempts have been successful. But it will give me something to go on with. Dieter ... If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 @EOT: ---* Origin: Mirbachs MadPoint (3:711/934.8) SEEN-BY: 711/934 @PATH: 711/934 |
