Definately take it out of the bag, because hd's can get pretty hot and need
cooling. But don't worry about the old drive, the only thing that you have
to watch out for is not to short out any of the connections on the circuit
board, which is usually exposed - you can hang the drive out by the cable,
upside down, 45 degress rotation to every direction at the same time, and
it will still work (for a while).
