Yep, just like people they go for what is the least healthy for them.
  These contain the most fat.  Either reduce the amount, remove them
totally, but whatever you do make sure some supplements are added.
I modify my seed with pellets for the additives and I just leave the
food out a bit longer than I used to in order for the birds to eat more
variety.  They do and I am happier.  Have do this for years and haven't
experienced any problems...
You can also get monkey chow and put it out as a treat.  It is a good
source of calcium and other trace elements.
