From what a gunsmith acquaintance of mine told me a number of years ago, be
glad you didn't get the Maximum. He related an account of one guy who shot
several hundred rounds through one in about a 2 month period and one day the
gun frame came apart. Seems that the massive pounding had allowed the
cylinder gap to open up a bit and the escaping gases ate away the top strap
until it gave way under recoil. The 'smith's own experience was that he
never shot it without making sure the firing points on either side of him
were vacant and he always wore a hat because any dust or accousting material
that was on the shade would rain down during the whole session. The
impression I got was that, to be practical, you had to reduce the loads so
far as to make it impractical especially when you could darn near duplicate
the loads in a regular .357 and for about 1/3 the cost.
