Yoo Hoo, Bill!
BN>BM> You will find Disney very accomodating to your needs. Each Park
BN>BM> will gladly store your insulin in a refrigerator for you....
BN> I had not heard about the above of storing the insulin. I like that
BN> idea. ... I have a new way to administer my insulin. I am using
BN> what they call a pen and it is a lot smaller and easier to use than
BN> the old needles. I have used it for two days now and like it.
I've seen these. Sounds like a great improvement, especially as the
"War on Drugs" continues to inflict damage on innocent collateral
targets.
BN> When and if we go I will be probably looking at one of the electric
BN> carts that I hear that they have available.
Trouble is, the Parks only have a few of these and there is no way to
reserve them. If they're all gone when you arrive, you're just out of
luck. (Another good reason to get there early.)
BN> If they do not then I am going to rent one and take it with me.
There is a company in the WDW area which rents the carts, including
delivery to your hotel, for about the same price as daily rental from
Disney. I don't have the name & address with me here, but I recall
reading it in the new "WDW for Adults" by Rita Aero and will be glad to
look it up for you if needed. This would save you the hassle of hauling
it, if you don't need one en route.
BTW, Rita's new Guidebook is much improved from her previous good work,
and now rivals the "Unofficial Guide", IMNSHO. Of course, having Fido
Disney's own Mickey, Minnie, and Meecelet as technical advisors probably
helped a lot!
BN> I am not sure how far that I would really be able to walk and enjoy
BN> myself. Also Kay could change off with me as she is starting to
BN> have walking problems also.
Hey, I'm not sure how far *I* will be able to walk some days. The
benefits of wheels should not be underestimated by anyone with the
slightest lack of confidence in their own pegs. It can make all the
differece between a short unpleasant trip and a full week of Magic!
BN>BM> Bill, it's good to hear you're feeling well enough to consider
BN>BM> travel again. ... Pack up those Hershey bars and come on down!
BN> As soon as I find work again so that we have the income to make the
BN> trip.
I know *that* feeling!
BN> On other trips I have stayed outside WDW but seeing that this is the
BN> first trip for Kay and also with the health problems we want to stay
BN> close so that we can come and go as we want and not have to worry
BN> about busses and other things off property.
I have found the off-property busses almost as convenient as those
on-property, but the longer ride times discouraged me from going back to
the room when I really should have. The advice so often heard to retire
to your hotel for an afternoon nap is one I would recommend to anyone.
You get your best bang per buck by getting to the turnstyles about an
hour before the Park officially opens, when the mid-day crowd starts to
get to you, head for the hotel and a rest. As the daytime crowd thins
at dinnertime, head back to the Park and enjoy the cooler evening hours.
(This next trip, I may even *take* my advice!)
BN> I understand that it is easier to get help with problems if you are
BN> one of the guests.
I doubt that would help much, except that they might be willing to ferry
you back to your hotel if you give out. The times I had health trouble,
no one ever asked me if I was staying on-property.
