BM> You will find Disney very accomodating to your needs. Each Park will
BM> gladly store your insulin in a refrigerator for you, and there are
BM> private rooms for injections. While you may be questioned about your
BM> munchie stash, I don't believe you'll have any trouble getting it in.
I had not heard about the above of storing the insulin. I like
that idea. A couple of hotels that we stay at in Canada also do
the same thing for the guests. If I am going to be away all day I
leave behind my extra (I always take a backup) and then keep the
one that I am using on an ice block that I have them freeze
overnight. Of course any thrips we make from now on will be a
little different as I have a new way to administer my insulin. I
am using what they call a pen and it is a lot smaller and easier
to use than the old needles. I have used it for two days now and
like it. I just have to remember to pick it up as it does not
need the cool area like the other does as ther is so much less
amounts of insulin in the pen and I do not have to worry about it
going bad from the heat before it is gone. If it is too hot for
me then it is too hot for the insulin. I put the pen in my jacket
pocket and that is is. When I take a shot people do not even know
what is going on as all it looks like I am putting a pen to my
belly.
BM> When you first arrive (or earlier), ask for their "Guide for Visitors
BM> with Handicaps." While this is mostly wheelchair access information,
BM> it also details the location of first aid centers and phone numbers
 BM> you
BM> might need. Also, never hesitate to ask *any* cast member for
BM> help--even the janitorial staff are trained to help out in situations
 BM> like yours.
When and if we go I will be probably looking at one of the
electric carts that I hear that they have available. If they do
not then I am going to rent one and take it with me. I am not
sure how far that I would really be able to walk and enjoy
myself. Also Kay could change off with me as she is starting to
have walking problems also. We will make all these arrangements
way before we go, probably when we make the hotel reservations.
BM> Bill, it's good to hear you're feeling well enough to consider travel
BM> again. WDW is a good test of anyone's stamina, but on the
BM> (thankfully) few occasions I or someone I was with needed help, it was
 BM> promptly and
BM> graciously provided. Pack up those Hershey bars and come on down!
As soon as I find work again so that we have the income to make
the trip. On other trips I have stayed outside WDW but seeing
that this is the first trip for Kay and also with the helth
problems we want to stay close so that we can come and go as we
want and not ahve to worry about busses and other things off
property. I understand that it is easier to get help with
problems if you are one of the guests.
