LOL! No, it's not 4 times as much gas...The air/fuel ratio is the same.
And 4 barrel carbs normally only run on the front two barrels. Which are
smaller than the two barrel carbs, 2 barrels. A QuadraJet will get better
milage than it's 2 barrel counterpart.
The reason the 2-4's used more gas is because whoever was driving it,
couldn't keep their foot outta the gas. Those 2-4's have progressive linkage
that keeps the engine running on 2 barrels most of the time.
... One good turn gets most of the blanket on a cold nite..
